What is "Consultant for a day"?

The first ever consulting competition in AUBG called “Consultant for a day” was organized by the Associates Consulting Club and the Aleksander Foundation. The event took place on the 1st and 2nd of April 2022 and was a major success for both the organizers and the participants. It gathered around 20 participants distributed in 7 teams from the American University in Bulgaria.

On the first day during the opening ceremony, the teams were presented with a consulting case from Harvard Business Review about a prominent multinational company, which gained popularity during the pandemic. They were given the task to come up with an analysis of the company’s business model and plan a comprehensive growth strategy.

Outcomes and Impact

After working on this case for about 24 hours, each team had to explain their findings and strategies adopted during a presentation in front of a professional jury from the consulting field. The event finished with an announcement of the top 3 teams and a short feedback session on the teams’ performances.

What was most valuable for the students was the interaction with the jury, who shared helpful practical advice and insights about the consulting field. During these 24 hours, the teams not only had the chance to learn a lot during their research but also have fun with their teammates while exploring the depths of consulting!
